FACTA Guidance For Small Businesses

Catawba Valley Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a workshop to help small businesses comply with FACTA, the Fair and Accurate Transaction Act. “The Rules & Reg’s of FACTA” will be held Wed., Feb. 17, from 6 to 9 pm.

FACTA puts small businesses at significant financial risk if they lose consumer or employee personal information. Auto dealers, mortgage brokers, doctors and all types of small businesses will be subject to this new set of rules aimed at curbing identity theft beginning June 1, 2010.

In this workshop, small business owners will learn FACTA regulations, assess their current risk and devise plans for updating their company's policies and procedures for information management.

The workshop is funded by taxpayer dollars and provided at no charge through state grant funds to CVCC.
