Turnbull Ranked Superior in Singing Competition

Music student Andrew Turnbull recently participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Musical Theater Competition held at Meredith University in Raleigh. Turnbull won the Continuing Education and Graduate Men Division in Musical Theatre and received superior ratings from all three judges.

In April, he will travel to Virginia to compete against other winners from a five-state region.

Turnbull has been involved in community theatre for nearly 14 years singing, dancing and acting. Most recently he served as the emcee in Hickory Community Theatre's production of Cabaret. He has worked eight seasons in the outdoor drama, “From This Day Forward.” Next year, he will take the reins as artistic director.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Turnbull graduated from East Burke High School and is in his second year at CVCC pursuing an associate in fine arts degree. He is a member of the CVCC Show Choir and was named to the Honor’s List last year for his academic achievement. He works at Belk for Clarins Company.

After graduation, he plans to audition for the Southeastern Theatre Conference. He lives in Rutherford College.
