March 29 Destination Employment Event for Job Seekers

Are you unemployed and seeking work? No matter what type of job you are pursuing, Catawba Valley Community College’s “Destination Employment” event on March 29 will help you acquire vital information necessary to prepare for a new job or career.

Held from noon until 5:30 p.m., local employers representing different business and industry sectors will share key information regarding the search for employment in a tough market. They will provide information about their business, the types of positions they employ, the education and skills required for those positions, and current and future employment needs.

Event coordinator Renee Neal stresses that employers will not be recruiting at this event. Rather, “Destination Employment” will help job seekers better determine the variety of business opportunities available in the area and provide information on how to evaluate their skills, abilities, and experience with regard to those opportunities.

At 3:30 p.m., a special session on “Using Social Networking as a Job Search Tool” will be presented by John P. Metcalf, senior partner with Charlotte-based Corporation for a Skilled Workforce where the focus is on reimagining everything about work and learning in the global economy.

There is no cost to participate; however, pre-registration is strongly encouraged to assure seating. For more information, visit, or contact Neal at 828-327-7000, ext. 4900, or
