Art work by two Catawba Valley Community College faculty and one student was selected for the 2011 NC Community Colleges Art Exhibition.

The exhibition, which runs through December 2011, is located in the Caswell Building in Raleigh, the home of the community colleges’ System Office.
The exhibit is available by virtual tour at Included are:
•    Student Victoria von Drehle Hecht’s photograph of the Charlotte skyline, #6.
•    Faculty Judy Rider’s watercolor painting of an Italian fresh market, #32.
•    Faculty Scott Rogenbogen’s lathe-turned Cherry burl bowl, #31.

“The 2011 exhibition is a great testament to the depth and breadth of talent within our community college family, and this year, for the first time, we have all 58 colleges as well as the System Office represented,” said NC Community College System President, Dr. Scott Ralls. “Each year, the System Office employees look forward to the new décor that accompanies the annual art exhibition and the creativity of our students, faculty and staff is a wonderful daily reminder of the true purpose of our work.”

For the second consecutive year, the System Office partnered with the Visual Art Exchange, the oldest private non-profit visual arts organization in Raleigh, to install the artwork and jury entries. The artwork includes paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, drawings, mixed media, needlework, quilts and more.

Art is exhibited on all six floors of the Caswell Building, located at 200 W. Jones Street. Public tours are available on a limited basis and may be scheduled by calling (919) 807-7100.
