Best of Broadway Concert This Saturday

On April 30, Catawba Valley Community College's Singular Sensation show choir, the CVCC Chorale and the Western Piedmont Symphony will present "100 Years of the Best of Broadway & Pops," at 7 p.m. in the college's Multipurpose Complex.

This project was supported by the United Arts Council of Catawba County through the North Carolina Arts Council, with funding from the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

An orchestral group from the Western Piedmont Symphony will accompany the CVCC Chorale.

With a professional sound system provided by Mark Doran, the concert highlights the milestones of Broadway and musical theatre. Singular Sensation member Andrew Turnbull will narrate the show, weaving in the story of Broadway from Tin Pan Alley, Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, and Frank Loesser to their contemporaries, Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The music of well-known Broadway composers Stephen Schwartz, Jerry Herman and many others will also be featured in this high energy musical ride through history suitable for the entire family.

The Multipurpose Complex is located on the Main Campus located at 2550 Hwy. 70 SE in Hickory.

Tickets are $10 per person; $8 with a CVCC ID. Tickets are on sale beginning March 31 at the CVCC Business Office on the main campus in Hickory Mon. through Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 828-327-7000, ext. 4276. Tickets may also be purchased from members of Singular Sensation.
