Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Offered In New Compressed Mini-Mester Format At CVCC
Catawba Valley Community College’s School of Business, Industry & Technology will offer an opportunity next spring to complete a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification in a compressed format, or mini-mester.
CVCC is the only college in the area to offer the compressed MOS format.
Only 25 students can enroll in this abbreviated online program. Four classes will be taught during one semester, but only one class will be taught at a time for a period of four weeks each.
CVCC will offer two special information sessions to share more details on how the program works on Thurs., Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. and on Fri., Oct. 14 at noon in SC408 located in the Student Center. Light refreshments will be served.
Brenda DeLee, CVCC’s Business Technologies Programs Department head, decided to offer the compressed online format in response to requests from students and others in the community.
“The MOS certification is an industry-recognized credential that many employers look for,” said DeLee. “In today’s tough job market, even people with lots of administrative or professional experience need this extra indicator that they have mastered the Microsoft Office software. We’re offering an opportunity to complete it in 16 weeks rather than a year.”
