Private & Home School Parent Info Session Dec. 6: Career & College Promise

Catawba Valley Community College’s Admissions Office invites private school parents and home school administrators of rising high school juniors and seniors to an information session on Tues., Dec. 6, at 3:30 p.m., to learn more about the admission requirements for North Carolina’s new Career & College Promise Program. The session will be held in Cuyler A. Dunbar Bldg. room 582.

An initiative of Gov. Beverly Perdue, Career & College Promise will guarantee eligible high school age students a clear, focused and affordable path to a successful future. Regardless of whether a student plans to go to college or get a job, Career & College Promise provides focused preparation, tuition-free to the student.
The program provides educational opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills.  
Admissions and course offerings under Career and College Promise have changed significantly. Students may choose:
•    A college transfer pathway leading to a minimum of 30 hours of college transfer credit; or
•    A career and technical education pathway leading to a certificate, diploma or degree.

The Dec. 6 session is for parents of private school students and administrators of home schooled students. Parents of public school students may get more enrollment information from their high school guidance counselor, or visit
