Eight-Month Supervisory Training Starts Oct. 11

Catawba Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Innovation Center will launch another section of its successful eight-month Supervisory Certificate Program beginning.

This course provides new or experienced supervisors with the tools and skills necessary for building personal confidence in their leadership role in the workplace. Participants will learn from a wide variety of experts, some with 25 to 30 years of experience in their profession. Tours of local businesses and insight from business leaders are integral parts of in the eight-month program.

The class meets once a month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the first Thursday of the month from Oct. 11, through May 2. The curriculum covers:

·       Role of Supervisor & Change Management

·       Communication in the Workplace

·       Performance Appraisals and Constructive Feedback

·       Rewards & Recognition

·       Time Management

·       Personality Types & Dealing with Difficult People

·       Employee Relations & Law

·       Financial Overview for Non-Financial Managers

·       Coaching, Mentoring, & Counseling

The program is especially helpful to those newly promoted to supervisory roles. The certification was developed as a direct result of a needs analysis the college conducted with local business and industry. The curriculum was designed to meet specific needs expressed by local companies. Instruction focused on new front-line supervisors and supervisors who desire to increase their skills.

Upon completion of this program, participants will receive a Supervisory Certificate from CVCC and 6.4 CEUs.

The cost is $850 per person and includes all course materials and lunch.
