Multicultural Series Begins Oct. 16-Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Catawba Valley Community College Office of Multicultural Affairs invites the community to attend its Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 16 in the CVCC Student Center.
The first in the five-part Multicultural Series celebrating diversity on our campus and in our community, the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration features food, entertainment and informative displays about the Hispanic culture.
Performances will include The CVCC Drama Performance Class, DJ Azteca, CVCC One Nation Dance Group, Hmong Dance by Pa Chi Xiong’s Children’s Group, Zumba Performance by Jose “Paco” Corona, Raza Latina Dance by CVCC Challenger Students and Mariachis Group “Los Gavilanes.”
Exhibits featuring different aspects of Hispanic life and culture will be on display. Food from several area Hispanic restaurants will also be served.
The five-part series encourages students, staff, faculty and the community to celebrate and become more aware of a wide variety of cultures, our differences and what we share in common.

April 15 International Day of Understanding
In addition to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the celebration is sponsored by a number of CVCC groups, including CircleK, Rotaract, Student Government Association, and the Minority Males on the Move.
