The Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) Foundation, Inc. was chartered in 1984 as an independent, nonprofit corporation. In addition, the CVCC Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt corporation as described in Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c) (3) and is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. The mission of the CVCC Foundation, Inc. is to foster and promote the growth, progress, and welfare of Catawba Valley Community College. The CVCC Foundation Board of Directors works in close coordination with the CVCC Board of Trustees to support the mission and goals of the College.
For purposes of this policy, "solicitation" includes letters of interest, proposals, applications, response to a request for proposals, negotiations, agreements, and arrangements made with external entities for funding.
The Executive Director of the Foundation directs solicitation and acceptance of all gifts for the CVCC Foundation, Inc. To avoid conflict and duplication of effort and to maximize gifts from potential donors, staff and faculty wishing to ask a potential donor (an individual, organization, or corporation) for a gift should notify the Foundation’s Executive Director in writing prior to the solicitation. The Foundation Executive Director will then advise faculty and staff of any potential conflicts.
Gifts are not tax-exempt to the donor when the donor is provided services or goods in return for the gift.
When a donor expresses an interest in making a cash contribution to the Foundation, staff and faculty should refer the donor to the Foundation Office. The CVCC Foundation accepts gifts according to its Charitable Giving Policy.
When a non-cash donation to the Foundation is being considered, staff and faculty should refer the donor to the Foundation Office. The CVCC Foundation accepts gifts according to its Charitable Giving Policy.
