CVCC Testing Information for CCP Students
Placement Testing Information for CCP Students at CVCC
High school students who do not have qualifying scores on the PLAN, Pre-ACT, PSAT, ACT, and/or SAT, can test at the Testing Center using the NC DAP—North Carolina (Community College System) Diagnostic and Placement Test.
Instructions for scheduling testing
- Complete and submit a Career and College Promise (CCP) application to the CCP office. A CVCC Student ID number must be assigned before testing can be scheduled; therefore, potential CCP students MUST complete and submit a CCP Application PRIOR to testing. The completed application can be returned to either the high school counselor for public and private schools or to CVCC Student Services for home schools. This needs to be done at least two days before your testing appointment.
- All tests are administered on an appointment basis. Please check the Testing Center website for the Testing Schedule PRIOR to scheduling the appointment.
- Please call or email the Testing Center to schedule your testing appointment. Do not schedule your testing appointment online.
- When scheduling your appointment, you must identify yourself as a CCP student. If this isn’t done, you will be directed to follow the procedure for a degree seeking student which will cause a delay in your CCP registration process and you'll have to pay $25 to test. During that phone call, you will let the Testing Center know whether you need to test in: English/reading, or math, or both.
- Following is the Testing Center contact information:

About the test
NC DAP is given in two parts—English/Reading and Math. Students need only test in the area(s) needed for qualification. The tests are untimed with the exception of the written essay (two hours allowed). Overall, most students take between two and four hours to test depending upon what parts are being taken.
Important to note
NC DAP testing is not available every day. Please plan ahead and make your testing arrangements ASAP.
