CVCC Shark Tank 2013 FAQs
- What can contestants look to take away from this event?
- Confidence in their own creativity.
- Presentation and communication skills
- Addition to their academic or business portfolio
- Recognition for their participation
- High Schools students have the ability to compete agains other high schools
- Scholarship money and/or prizes
- Who can participate?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, Small Business Center clients, and 11th & 12th grade surrounding high school students. We are open to discussion for lower grades to participate.
- Where will the event be held?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, and Small Business Center clients competitions will be held on Catawba Valley Community College's Main Campus.
- High Schools: The first round we recommend being hosted at the sponsoring school. The final competition will be held on CVCC's Main Campus.
- How many students can enter?
- There are no limits to how many students can enter.
- How many students from our school can compete in the final?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, and Small Business Center clients:
- High Schools: The winner from the sponsoring school will move into the finals at the CVCC hosted event.
- What do the participants receive?
- Those who are chosen to present their business idea in front of the panel will receive a gift for participation.
- When do we submit our entries?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, and Small Business Center clients by: March 31, 2013
- High School Students by: March 31, 2013
- How do we know our entry was received?
- Gary Muller or Adel Wilks will send confirmation via email.
- Please make sure your contact information is on your entry prior to submission.
- What happens after we submit our entry?
- Entries will be reviewed to determine which proposals make it the semifinals.
- When does the semifinal competition take place?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, and Small Business Center clients competition will take place during the second week of April.
- High Schools: Each school will have a different date. As we receive the dates, from the sponsoring schools, we will post them on our website.
- When does the final competition take place?
- CVCC students, faculty, staff, and Small Business Center clients competition will take place on: Late april - early may
- High Schools: The winner from each high school will compete in a final competition at Catawba Valley Community College (main campus) on: late april - early may
