Healthcare is a constantly changing field, especially when dealing with insurance reimbursement, managed care, fee schedules, patient expectations, and governmental changes. There is a tremendous need for people trained in this specialty. Most graduates are eligible for supervisory or management positions within a few years after gaining experience. The Healthcare Management Technology (HMT) program prepares you to work in or manage these dynamic business office responsibilities and new reimbursement methods. Healthcare management is a career choice with exciting challenges, teaching graduates how to increase profitability, code and process insurance, and provide excellent customer (patient) service.
The Associate of Applied Science program offers a 320-hour work-based learning opportunity. In the last semester, students work with Ms. Ford and Ms. Richard to select the best facility for their educational experience. The combination of their degree and healthcare experience leads to better career placement.
