Digital Photography-Adv. (Rising 5th - 7th Graders)

Now that you are getting familiar with your camera, it is time to take-it-up-a-notch! We will revisit basic photography class topics briefly before moving on to advanced techniques, such as f-stops, lenses, depth-of-field, lighting, and other fundamental skills. Students will learn how to produce higher-quality digital images and to prepare their files for use in print or online, as well as professional editing workflows, techniques, and practices useful for taking their photography to the next level. Prerequisite: An Eye for Photography and/or Digital Photography-Beg.

Food lovers stop here! Learn to be comfortable in the kitchen and gain useful cooking skills. Learn basic food safety, nutrition, measuring methods, utensil and food preparation terms, and using small appliances to prepare food. You will prepare fun foods and eat the treats you make in class. Whisk in a variety of ingredients, toss in a little fun, season with imagination and soon you will be cooking while learning!

Don't freak out! In this two-week camp, attach the SAT and WIN! Become familiar with SAT-type questions, develop test taking strategies, manage test panic, increase your confidence and speed, and get a review of test content. The first week will focus on English content and the second week will focus on math strategies. Students will need to purchase the Kaplan SAT 2016: Strategies, Practice and Review book; also available on the first day of class for purchase. Please bring exact change if paying with cash or bring a check made payable to CVCC with your driver's license number.

Sewing-Beg. Level I (Ages 8-12)

Come join us in the sewing room for an introduction to sewing machine basics, hand sewing techniques, hemming and mending, buttons, pattern reading, and fabric choice. Use your creativity to make some simple projects such as a tote bag, pin cushion, and tissue holder. In this fun-filled workshop, students will decorate paste papers and use them for artist book covers. They will create several shaped artist books, such as the square and triangular origami book, and fill their pages with poetry and illustrations drawn from their own imagination. Some poetry will be shaped like a book.
