Introduction to Sign Language
Students will learn about Deaf Culture, the history of sign language, and will get a base of functional signs that they can use for basic communication. Proper hand shape, movement, classifiers, fingerspelling, vocabulary and facial expressions will be the focus in the class. Students will be given a strong foundation for building future vocabulary so that they may eventually become fluent signers. The book that is required is called "Signing Naturally: Student Workbook, Level I." (Vista American Sign Language: Functional Notation Approach). Do DVD required. The authors names are: Ken Mikos, Cheri Smith & Ella Mae.
