Pathways to Healthcare
This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The curriculum framework is based on a specific occupation in healthcare including Phlebotomy, Medical Terminology, etc., and addresses one or more of the following topics: career exploration, job seeking and keeping strategies, enry-level skill awareness and development, and training success strategies including note-taking, test-taking strategies, reducing test anxiety, and preparing for certification exams and placement tests. A pre-test in vocabulary and reading comprehension is given in this class.
Course Learing objectives:
- Students will gain an understanding of the roles and duties of healthcare occupations
- Students will learn skills to assist them in successful completion of coursework
- Students will obtain job seeking skills
- Students will learn job keeping skills that relate to the healthcare field
- Students will pre-test for vocabulary and reading comprehension skills
