Robert "Heath" McBride, Law Enforcement Training School Director, 828-327-7000, ext. 4448

Heath McBride is currently a Special Agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, assigned as a criminal agent and crime scene search specialist.  In addition to School Director at CVCC, McBride teaches at the SBI academy in Salemburg, N.C. In 2012, McBride was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award at CVCC. He started his law enforcement career in a non-sworn position at the Appalachian State University Police Department. McBride was a patrol officer with the Hickory Police Department and a Sergeant with the Catawba County Sheriff's Office. He has an Associates Degree in Science from Lees-McRae College and a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University. McBride has additional graduate studies from Appalachian State University. 


Lemuel S. Martin, BLET Qualified Assistant, 828-327-7000 ext. 4583

Lemuel Martin has been employed with the Newton Police Department since 1987 after graduation from CVCC's Basic Law Enforcement Training program.  Since he has been with the Newton Police department he has held the rank of Sergeant of Patrol and Detective and Lieutenant as a Detective, then Detective Commander, Lieutenant on Road Patrol.

Lemuel has an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Stanly Community College.  He has successfuly completed AOMP with NC State and has multiple Instructor certifications including Radar, Lidar, Time - Distance, Driving, Firearms, ASP, PR-24, Taser, and Pepper Spray.
