Dates & information are subject to change.  Picking up some extra credits at CVCC while home for the summer? Here’s how to do it:
Classes begin: May 20, 2013
Classes end: July 30, 2013
Holidays: May 27, July 4 & 5, 2013
Please consult the "QUICK FACTS” at www.cvcc.edu for complete registration information.

College Application

Complete a CVCC Application online, marking "Special Credit" as your program of study. Make a personal visit to the Student Services Office to meet with an Admissions Counselor. A photo ID is required for service. A parent, sibling or friend cannot appear on behalf of the student to process applications. Students may apply online, but must come to Student Services to process the Application for Admission.

Proof of prerequisite coursework/transcripts

Many courses require prerequisites in reading, English, math and computer literacy. Consult the CVCC Course Catalog for particulars. Bring copies of your current college transcripts or SAT/ACT scores as proof of prerequisites. You may not register for CVCC courses without appropriate prerequisites, either completed or currently in progress, and cited on your transcripts. Grades of "D", "F", "I" or "W" in prerequisite coursework are not accepted.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSCRIPTS:  BRING ALL OF THEM WITH YOU -- they may be unofficial transcripts for summer school visiting students who attend other schools.   CVCC must be able to document WHERE a student took a prerequisite class, WHEN a student took the class and the GRADE the student earned.  PLEASE BRING ALL TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOU WHEN YOU PROCESS THE APPLICATION TO THE COLLEGE.

Consult with your home institution before you register at CVCC

CVCC is not responsible for transfer credit at another school, so make sure any classes you take will transfer. Check with your academic advisor or Registrar at your home institution.

Taking summer school at CVCC to raise a GPA at your home institution?  If you have earned a grade of "F" at your home college or university, repeating that class at a community college will not replace the "F" on your transcript. You must repeat failing grades at the school where that grade was earned.

Registration Days & Times

Students who have met with an Admissions staff member in Student Services to process their application may register for courses during specified registration times - see Quick Facts

Tuition

Tuition is payable online or in the CVCC Business Office immediately following registration. Tuition may be paid by cash, check, debit card, major credit card (MasterCard, Visa or American Express) or payment plan.  There is a fee to utilize the payment plan.

Textbooks are not covered by tuition and may be purchased or rented at The Trove Campus Store located in the Student Center.

CVCC Transcript Request

Order an official copy of your CVCC transcript to be sent to your home college or university once your summer grades have been posted.

Advising

Special Credit students are NOT assigned a CVCC academic advisor. You must determine in advance which courses you desire.

CVCC E-Mail

A CVCC email account will be created for students usually within 5 days after meeting with an Admissions staff member. Other online services are available at MyServices.  Contact the CVCC Helpdesk with questions at 828-327-7000, ext. 4444.

Parking

There is no charge for parking on the CVCC campus during the summer. However, a parking hangtag is required. See the Student Services reception desk for a permit.
