Action Procedure for Faculty Participation in College Decision-Making
To provide for orderly and effective Faculty involvement in the College decision-making
process, the following procedure shall be followed.
- The Faculty originator of a recommendation shall refer his written recommendation with justifications
to the Faculty Senate.
- If appropriate, the Faculty Senate may refer a recommendation to a comittee for further study.
- If the recommendation has been referred to a committee, the committee shall report its findings to
the Faculty Senate at its next meeting.
- When responsibility for decision-making is vested in the Faculty Senate, the Senate can approve or
disapprove the recommendation.
- If the recommendation requires administratve consideration, the Faculty Senate may:
- Return the recommendation to the originator with an endorsement for recision, or...
- Forward the recommendation with an endorsement of approval to the College President, or...
- Disapprove the recommendation with a written explanation.
Disposition of the recommendation must be accomplished no later than the next Senate meeting
following receipt of the recommendation.
- When a recommendation with endorsement for approval is forwarded to the College President,
he shall:
- Forward the recommendation to the Administrative Council for consideration, or...
- Return the recommendation to the Faculty Senate for revision, or...
- Approve the reocmmendation, or...
- Disapprove the recommendation.
Preferably, such action will occur before the next regular Senate meeting.
- Upon receipt of a recommendation from the College President, the Administrative Council may:
- Return the recommendation to the Faculty Senate for revision.
- Approve the recommendation, or...
- Disapprove the recommendation.
Preferably, action will occur before the next regular Senate meeting.
- If the recommendation requires action by the Board of Trustees, it shall be submitted to the Board
by the College President with the endorsement of the Faculty Senate and the College President and/or the
Administrative Council. Action by the Board of Trustees shall be reported by the College President to the
Senate President within three (3) working days after the Board meeting.
