Executive Board
Section I: General Powers
The Executive Board shall exercise all the powers invested by the Faculty Senate
Constitution and conduct the general business of the Faculty Senate.
Section II: Number
The number of members of the Executive Board shall be five (5). They are the President,
Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Immediate Past President.
Section III: Election
The Executive Board shall be elected by the Faculty Senate in May of each year by simple
majority vote. Nominations may be taken from the floor excepting for the Parliamentarian who shall be
appointed by the Senate President. Election shall be by secret ballot with candidates for office being
allowed to vote.
Section IV: Tenure
The term of office for each member of the Executive Board shall be one (1) year,
effective July 1 to June 30.
Section V: Duties
- President-The Senate President shall be the principal executive officer of the
Senate, and, subject to the control of the Senate, he shall in general supervise the business and affairs
of the Senate. He shall, when present, preside at all meetings of the Faculty Senate and the Executive
Board. He meets with the Executive Board to establish meeting dates and agendas for Senate meetings,
calls meetings of the Faculty Senate, and represents the Faculty Senate at meetings of the Administrative
Council and/or Faculty. He has no vote in Faculty Senate meetings excepting to break tie votes.
April Cline - President
- Vice-President-In the absence ot the Senate President or in the event of his refusal
or inability to act, the VIce-President shall perform the duties of the President, and , when so acting,
he shall have all powers of and be subject to all restrictions upon the Senate President. He shall
perform such other duties as may be assigned to him by the President or the Executive Board. The
Vice-President must be elected from an instructional division different from that of the President.
Murphy Webber - Vice-President
- Secretary-Treasurer-The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep the minutes of the meetings
of the Faculty Senate and the Executive Board and maintain a permanent record of Senate and Executive
Board correspondence, minutes, proposals, and reports. He shall have charge and responsibility for all
funds of the Faculty Senate and receive and give receipts for monies in the name of the Senate. In
general, he shall perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary-Treasurer and other duties as
may be assigned to him by the Senate President or the Executive Board.
Christy Land - Secretary
- Communication Officer - The Communication Officer shall maintain the Faculty Senate
website, with input from the Executive Board and/or Faculty Senate, facilitate its use by members,
produce a newsletter and tansmit it to Faculty, and assist in multimedia communications.
Wanda Barker - Communication Officer
- Parliamentarian-The Parliamentarian advises meeting participants on points of order,
rules, and regulations established by the Faculty Senate Constitution and/or the Faculty Senate. In the
absence of said specific regulations, Robert's Rules of
Order, Revised Edition, shall be the parliamentary authority for the Faculty Senate.
Brenda Lewis - Parliamentarian
- Immediate Past President-The Immediate Past President of the Faculty Senate shall
continue to serve on the Executive Board for a one-year term after his tenure of office is complete. He
shall serve in an advisory capacity only and is not entitled to vote in action taken by the Executive
Board.

Section VI: Resignation
If any member of the Executive Board determines that he cannot fulfill the duties of
his office, he should submit a written letter of resignation to the Executive Board.
Section VII: Removal
Failure of a member to perform the duties of his particular office on the Executive Board
as stated in the Faculty Senate Constitution can result in loss of membership on the Executive Board. Said
removal must be accomplished by a vote of at least 75 percent of the Faculty Senate.
Section VIII: Vacancy
Vacancies occurring on the Executive Board by resignation, removal, or other causes shall
be filled by election at the next regular Faculty Senate meeting.
Section IX: Meetings
The Executive Board shall meet a minimum of once per month. Additional meetings may be
called at the discretion of the Senate President.
Section X: Voting
- No vote shall be taken unless a simple majority of the members of the Executive Board are present.
- Excepting the Immediate Past President, each member is entitled to one vote which may be exercised
via written proxy vote.
- The Senate President is entitled to vote only in case of a tie vote.
