Team Members in Attendance: Coy Hudson, Wes Bunch, Wayne Wooten, Linda Lutz, Bill Dulin, Ron Valentini, Christine Holt, Deborah Myatt, and Charles White

Agenda Items and Actions Taken:

  1. Institutional Survey Updates -The Graduate Exit Report was forwarded to IELC members in December. The results are posted on the IE, Research and Planning website under Data Profiles, Satisfaction Indicators of 2006 Graduates. Historically the results have been very positive and 2006 was no exception. The data from this report is used to prepare the Completer Report for NCCCS. Our graduates indicated they met all of their goals and 98% were satisfied with the overall quality of the College. The NCCCS standards for goals met are 95% and 90% for overall satisfaction. A suggestion was made by Bill Dulin to include a comments box on the Graduate Exit Survey. The Committee agreed and Charles will request to have the box added immediately.

The Non-Completer Report was also finalized and sent to IELC members. Ninety-three percent of our non-returning students were satisfied with the overall quality of the College, which is 12 points higher than 2005. The data from this survey is used to prepare the Non-Completer Report for NCCCS. There was some discussion regarding the low response numbers to the survey. Concern was voiced regarding the retention efforts of these 734 former students. Charles mentioned that for several years he has reminded the Committee that the NCCCS Performance Indicator for Retention and Graduation is a sum total for all programs, therefore, it does not provide data for each program which if provided should be more useful. There has never been any consistent College reporting on retention rates by program. Bill suggested perhaps we take a random phone survey of our non-completers in an effort to gather more data. Charles will note this suggestion and discuss this idea with the IELC prior to the preparati on of the 2007 Non-Completer Survey. Coy suggested we invite Cindy Coulter to our February meeting to present information on the Title III efforts on retention. Charles will contact Cindy and request her presence at the February IELC meeting.

The Employer Survey has been completed with employers reporting 95% overall satisfaction with our graduates. This data will be furnished to NCCCS in February. This is the first year that each institution was required to administer the Employer Survey rather than NCCCS.

The Faculty/Staff/Administration survey will be online for the second year and will be sent via e-mail attachment on March 15, 2007 and will be available until March 30, 2007. The survey is twelve pages and includes for the first time questions about the president, vice-presidents, and the deans. The names of the president, vice-presidents, and the deans will be placed beside their titles on the survey. Linda Lutz suggested that perhaps the survey be formatted in landscape rather than portrait format. The survey will be sent CVCC-All and for the first time part-time employees will be offered the opportunity to respond. Spaces will be added to the survey to allow respondents to indicate their employment status, full-time or part-time. The Maintenance (Penny Gantt), Lab School (Kristy Campbell), and Hosiery (Linda York) areas will use the computer of the person identified in parenthesis for all their employees to use to access the survey since not all of these employees have their own computer.

The Annual Student Evaluation of College Services will be made available for the first time online. Students will be notified by Valley Cats e-mail on March 15, 2007. The survey link will remain online until March 30, 2007. Bill Dulin suggested Charles contact Bob Shave to determine if he can provide a prompt when students first log on which will direct them to the survey first. Charles will talk to Bob about this possibility.

  2. APR Update - Charles mentioned that all the data from the Graduate Exit Survey, the Non-Completer Survey, and the Employer Survey has been entered into the Annual Program Review Report. He plans to gather and key all the data except the Maximum Efficiency Spreadsheet. Program Heads will provide data for curriculum revisions, re-accreditation information, general status, trends, strengths, and weaknesses. This information will be forwarded to Charles and he will add to the APR Report. Once the individual program reports are complete a master report of all the programs will be prepared and posted on the IE, Research and Planning website.

  3. Strategic Planning- Coy spoke on the strategic planning efforts on behalf of Dr. Hinshaw who was not able to attend the meeting. Coy reminded everyone of the instructions for preparing the implications and the upcoming deadlines.

  4. Other Business- Charles reminded everyone that Objectives Status entries are due by January 31. Deborah Myatt reminded participating individuals about completing the online survey sent out by Dr. Hinshaw for Sallie Mae by January 25.

  5. Reminder of Next Meeting - The next IELC meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned.
