Agenda Items and Actions Taken

Presentation of Online Objectives System – Charles made a follow-up presentation of the new Online Objectives System to explain the changes requested at the March meeting. From the discussions at today’s meeting the additional changes will include: 1) moving the Annual Objectives just below the Related Directions, Initiatives, and Objectives box, 2) the latest objectives will appear in the administration database at the top rather than at the bottom of existing objectives, 3) a text box will replace the existing box for new personnel to allow additional personnel requests to be entered for the same objective, and 4) the system will be changed to allow user objectives to be approved by the immediate supervisor, then move to the next supervisor in the administrative hierarchy until ending up with the appropriate vice-president to submit to the president and all vice-presidents. This system will be field tested by Wayne Wooten and RonValentini.

Strategic Planning – Dr. Hinshaw reported that the deadline had passed for receiving comments on changes to the Strategic Directions. He listed nine areas of emphasis; 1) Academic Excellence, 2) Diversity/Globalization, 3) College Environment, 4) Economic Development/Workforce Development, 5) Community Engagement, 6) Institutional Effectiveness, 7) Resources, 8) Technology, and 9) Communication. He will appoint small teams for each area to develop a set of initiatives by June 1, 2007.

Review of Current IE Process - Charles issued the current Institutional Effectiveness Plan and requested that the IELC decide soon what changes need to be made for the coming year. He also issued a copy of the Standards of Excellence revised to reflect the reorganization.
