CVCC Professional Staff Association Executive Committee

CVCC Foundation Meeting Room

Members Present: Doug Allen, Sue Asp, Sallie Neville-Merritt, Donna Trado, John Beall

The meeting was called to order at 3:10 PM in the CVCC Foundation Meeting Room by President Doug Allen.

Planning for General Meeting of October 16, 2001
Pay Equity:

1. Discussion about how to thank the Legislature for their inclusion of "Professional Staff" in the special pay increase for community colleges. Possible letter writing campaign. Will present plan at General Meeting.
2. Should the CVCC Professional Staff Association participate with the N3CSDPA in a Legislative reception in Raleigh in Spring 2002?

Children on campus:
Discussed the proposed new policy. Will discuss at the General Meeting and submit comments based on members input.

Liaison with other CVCC employee groups:
Discussion, should we approach the Support Staff Association again about joining with us in the pay equity issues? Decided to propose to our membership that we continue joint projects with the Support Staff Association and Faculty Senate. An informal discussion about merging or joint strategies may be held during the business year with the leadership of other organizations.

PSA Brochure:

1. Reviewed "Accomplished Goals" and "Future Goals". Brochure will be updated after current membership prioritizes goals for 2001-2002.
2. Plan to include list of Past Presidents in future editions.

Other Business

1. Will request a status report from our administration of the CVCC Mentoring Program.
2. Decided that the Awards Sub-committee (Donna Trado Chair) will have the added duty to design a recommended system for selecting a CVCC nominee for the NCCCS Staff Award in future years.
3. Discussed the idea of having a recruiting social event. No decision was made.
