Doug Allen introduced Wes Bunch, Vice-President of Fiscal Affairs. Mr. Bunch discussed moving CVCC more into the electronic age. There are many possibilities being considered at this time such as sick leave on pay stubs, new employee orientation and campus cleanliness. Mr. Bunch has an open door policy and invited all to contact him at any time.

President Allen gave a brief update from the Presidential Search Committee for Sue Asp(our chosen representative to the Search Committee). The job announcement has been run in several newspapers, NCCCS, Challenger for African-Americans, and Chronicle of Higher Education . Consultant will review approximately 60 applicants, cut 20 to 25, Presidential Search Committee will select 6 to10. Then trustees will trim to the 3 to send to DCC in Raleigh . There is no first choice, second choice. Hope to make offer in July.

President Allen spoke about the strides having been made in Performance Pay. F/T instructors in Continuing Education are now given the same opportunity as F/T faculty on main campus to apply for performance pay.

In referring to the three goals, President Allen stated that great strides have been made with the Trustees being more in tune with the Professional Staff Association since we have a representative on the search team. Thank you was sent to Charles Snipes for allowing us this opportunity.

QEP update. College was placed on warning status. Leadership team is fairly certain that standards will be met and the warning status will be removed in 2005.

Mentoring Update: Due to holidays and registration at main campus Teresa Ray hopes to resume work with the mentoring program soon. Needs list of professional staff. Plans to work on welcome packet for PSA.

Recommendation from Executive Board to fund a $100 Scholarship Fund for a PSA member for professional development. There was unanimous approval by members present to form a committee to develop criteria to use this scholarship for professional development activity only.

Other business: Should part-time professional staff be allowed to join PSA. A poll will be sent to all members. D. Allen will report back at next meeting. There was discussion about the North Carolina Community College Professional Staff award. It was stated that usually a Vice-President wins this award.

Next Meeting, Tues May 9, 2006 2:30 Main Campus (place TBA)

Respectfully submitted

Joyce C. Watson

Secretary, PSA
