CVCC Professional Staff Association
August 29, 2006

Members Present: Doug Allen, LaDonna Goodson, May Khang, Ashley Brown, Renee Neal, Regina Reep, Judy Barkley, Donna Trado, Joyce Watson, Sandie Loyer, Kelly Plumley, Karen Less and a visitor, Jonathan Martin from Student Services.

The meeting was called to order by President Doug Allen at 2:35 at the East Campus, Room 1001.

Doug Allen reported that the minutes are posted on the web page for all to see.

Treasurer's Report: Joyce Watson presented the Treasurer Report. As of August 29, 2006, $329.17. There was a $38.52 expenditure to JayJay Trophies.

New Business:
On the Nominating Committee , positions needed to be filled: one At-Large, Secretary/Treasurer and President Elect. Anne Williams was nominated and approved to be the Chair of the Nominating Committee. Sue Asp and Susan Killian and Ashley Brown will assist on this committee.

Doug Allen spoke with Wes Bunch and the pay raise – 6% in August pay- the 2% may be in the October pay.

Update from Dr. Hinshaw, he plans to “watch 1 st semester to learn, ” changes may follow.

Doug Allen gave a handout of Presidential Liaisons to various statewide organizations and committees with names and numbers for your reference.

Need volunteers for special committee to work on the PSA “scholarship” for professional development. Need approximately three people. Please call Doug Allen or Ashley Brown to volunteer for this committee. If there are no volunteers, you will be drafted.

PSA representative to QEP. Anne Williams was nominated and approved to be the PSA representative to QEP for another three years. Anne graciously agreed to serve this term.

Goals review: Our goals were Pay Equity , Image of PSA and Improvement of College. There was a lot of discussion on this topic. It was agreed to change our goals to focus more on the College and students. Our major goals this year are:

  1. Engage with the college and be passionate about its success and the success of our students, graduates and community.
  2. Professional image of the Professional Staff Association.
  3. Communication with college faculty and staff.

These will be distributed by email for additional inputs and comments and formally adopted at the October meeting.

PSA accomplishments from Aug. 2005 – to date are due to Doug Allen/Ashley Brown. Doug will e-mail the form. Accomplishments could be committees, degrees, articles published, etc.

Meeting with Dr. Hinshaw in early Oct. If you have any input, please e-mail to Doug or Ashley Brown.

Next meeting will be pot luck tentatively on Oct. 4, at 12:30 for lunch and meeting to begin at 1:00 pm. Place TBA.

PSA legacy project – banner for Auditorium. Ashley met with Beautification Committee and PSA may make a donation to them to help in paying for these banners. The banners will be 4 ft. wide and reach from ceiling to floor.
