Different Different World
Different Different World - learning experience presented by the Department of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
CVCC recently held a session about a new community known as “Different Different World” on Tuesday, October 15 from 9 am to 3 pm in West Wing Commons. This special event was a simulation exercise to expose newcomers to a world filled with unique ways to communicate without using speech. The session provided hands-on experiences of what it is like to be deaf, deaf-blind or hard of hearing. The majority of the citizens of Different, Different World have varying degrees of hearing and vision loss. This event was sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We had a great turn out and were privileged to be educated on how to support those who are differently abled.
