Flick Family Establishes Scholarship
The CVCC Foundation, Inc., announces the establishment of the Flick Family Scholarship Endowment by the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Flick and his wife, Jo Anne Townsend Flick, at Catawba Valley Community College.
The scholarship honors Elizabeth Richards, Alyse Jackson, Colton Flick, Austin Flick, and Amelia Flick, the five grandchildren of Rev. and Jo Anne Flick, who live in the Bethlehem community and have a long history of community service in Catawba County.
During CVCC’s recent annual Celebration of Black History Month event, the Flicks announced their intent to provide a scholarship as a gesture to help break down walls and build meaningful relationships across cultural lines within the community. Through the scholarship, the Flicks specifically encourage African American students to make contributions to the well-being of the community. The amount of the award will vary as the endowment appreciates. Additional funds may be added to the endowment.
Beginning in 2020, students may apply for this scholarship who exhibit financial need, have potential for a successful two-year college career, are committed to academic excellence and to obtaining an education to pursue definite goals.
