Darrell received his B.S. Degree Cum Laude in Agricultural Education with a specialization in Horticulture, from North Carolina State University in 3-1/2 years on December 20, 1972. The next semester he started his Master of Education in Agricultural Education, again specializing in Horticulture, and was a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant in the Agricultural Education Department until May 15, 1973 when he accepted the Instructor's position at CVCC in what was then called the Landscape Technology Program. After continuing to work part-time on his Masters of Education Degree, he received it from North Carolina State University on June 25, 1974. In October 1976, he was named Assistant Division Chairperson, in addition to his full time instructional duties. On May 21, 1984, he received the Educational Specialist Degree from NOVA University, specializing in Adult Education. He has also worked on his Doctorate Degree from NOVA University in Curriculum Development/Community College Governance. Darrell has been the Environmental and Life Science Chairperson since September 1, 1989.
