Dr. Sanford L. Steelman Scholarship Endowment

Dr. Sanford L. Steelman established an endowment to help students in the Associate Degree Nursing Program and the Environmental and Life Science Program. The experiences Dr. Steelman had funding his own education led him to the decision to lighten the financial burden for academically talented students in these programs. Dr. Steelman conducted research at Merck & Company and also in academia. He worked with many well know Nobel Prize winning researchers. This scholarship will enable students to begin their educational journey toward excellence.

Award

Funds for the scholarship are made possible from the income received from the endowment. The endowment is comprised of funds donated by Dr. Sanford L. Steelman and a portion donated by the Merck Company Foundation. The amount of award will vary as does the growth and income of the endowment.

Criteria for Selection

• The recipient must be a resident of CVCC's service area, preferably Catawba County.
• The recipient must be enrolled in one of the two stated program areas.
• The recipient must provide information to prove financial need exists.
• The recipient must have achieved and continue to maintain a minimum grade average of B.
