Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks - Newton Elks Lodge Number 2042 Scholarship

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Newton Elks Lodge No. 2042 Scholarship is established to provide a scholarship for a student enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Catawba Valley Community College. This scholarship award is based on financial need.

The Newton Elks Lodge No. 2042 exhibits brotherly love in helping citizens in the community which it serves by providing support for drug awareness, rest homes, veterans, homes for children, and other programs for the less fortunate.

The members of this Lodge support higher education and with this scholarship hope to enable and encourage a nursing student to complete requirements for an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Award

One scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $1,000 to either a first-year or second-year student. Preference will be given to an applicant with an extended family.

Criteria for Selection

The recipient must:

• Possess potential for a successful two-year college career in the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
• Be committed to an education to pursue definite goals.
• Prove financial need.
• Be a Catawba County resident.

Other Criteria

The recipient may be invited by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Newton Elks Lodge No. 2042 to attend a meeting and/or function during the college year.
