CCP- Home School Registration
Home School Registration Instructions for New and Returning Students CCP
CCP Enrollment and Registration for Home School Students
Before pursuing any of the following registration opportunities, please review who is eligible for CCP. Students who are eligible for CCP will enroll in a CCP pathway. The pathway selected by the student should match the student’s post-secondary education and/or career goals.
CCP students have three registration opportunities. Details regarding each opportunity can be found below. Paperwork required for registration only needs to be submitted one time (during the first registration opportunity pursued). If subsequent opportunities are utilized, paperwork is not needed.
CCP Priority Registration
Priority Registration is the first registration opportunity CCP students have to request courses for either the fall or spring semesters. Priority Registration is not currently offered for summer semesters. Refer to the Important Dates tab for Priority Registration deadlines.
Priority Registration occurs prior to main registration opening for all CVCC students, and therefore, gives CCP students a greater likelihood of obtaining a seat in courses requested. During Priority Registration, CCP students are provided a limited course list, called the Course Offerings–Priority Registration, from which to select their courses. The priority course offerings list does not provide specific sections for courses; instead, students are provided the option to take courses as seated, online, or hybrid. Students do not have the ability to request specific instructors. The priority course offerings list is divided into two categories, college transfer courses and career technical education courses. Course selections should be made according to the courses allowed in the student’s CCP pathway.
CCP Regular Registration
Regular Registration is the second registration opportunity CCP students have to request courses for the fall, spring, or summer semesters. Refer to the Important Dates tab for Regular Registration deadlines.
Regular Registration occurs once registration is open to all CVCC students, and therefore, all seats are first-come, first-served and are not guaranteed. CCP students will be able to select courses from the main semester schedules for the upcoming semester, which means students will have the ability to request specific section numbers for courses. Students should provide alternate course options in case their first or second choice options are not available. Course selections should be made according to the courses allowed in the student’s CCP pathway.
Please see the details below regarding the information that should be included in the course request email.
CCP Late Registration
Late Registration is available for students who were unable to meet either the Priority Registration or Regular Registration deadlines. Refer to the Important Dates tab for Late Registration deadlines.
During Late Registration, registration requests can only be made for late-start courses from the main semester schedules for the upcoming semester. With Late Registration, seats are first-come, first-served and are not guaranteed. Course selections should be made according to the courses allowed in the student’s CCP pathway.
Please see the details below regarding the information that should be included in the course request email.
How do students pursue any of the three registration opportunities?
Check the Important Dates tab for upcoming registration deadlines. Paperwork and course requests must be received by the CCP office by the stated deadline; paperwork only needs to be submitted during the first pursued registration opportunity. If all requirements (required documents and registration requests) are not met by the stated deadline, the student will not be processed/registered and will have to wait to submit everything for the next registration opportunity.
What documents are required for enrollment/registration through any of the three registration opportunities?
New Home School CCP Students
For a new home school CCP student, the home school administrator should email ccp@cvcc.edu for the new student enrollment process. Documents required for enrollment will include the following and will be detailed in the email reply to the home school administrator.
- CCP application (will be completed online)
- CCP verification form (will be completed electronically)
- Home school graduation plan
- Copy of home school certification through the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education
- Official home school transcript (must be mailed)
- Test scores (if applicable)
New home school CCP students and the home administrators are required to have a new student appointment with the CCP office prior to the stated registration deadline. In this meeting, the new student and home school administrator will meet with the CCP personnel regarding the student’s plans for CCP. The home school administrator should email ccp@cvcc.edu to schedule the meeting. The meeting should not be scheduled until all paperwork has been submitted to and reviewed by the CCP office. Please plan accordingly to meet the specified deadline and allow up to one business week for mailed (USPS) items to be received and processed.
New home school CCP students will also be required to complete the online New CCP Student Orientation. The new student will be sent information (via the email address provided on the new student’s CCP application) on how to complete new student orientation.
Returning Home School CCP Students
Returning home school CCP students should submit a verification form and an updated home school transcript in order to pursue any registration opportunity by the stated deadline. Paperwork only needs to be submitted one time regardless of whether the student pursues more than one registration opportunity. Returning students should check their CVCC student email for how to submit the electronic verification form and how to submit the transcript.
How do students submit their course requests for any of the three registration opportunities?
For new home school students, the home school administrator should email the student’s course requests to ccp@cvcc.edu by the stated registration deadline.
For returning home school CCP students, the student via the student’s CVCC email account or the home school administrator may email the student’s course requests to ccp@cvcc.edu. Students should check their CCP pathway to make sure the requested courses are allowed in their pathway.
What information should be included in the course request email?
The subject line of the email should include the student’s name and specify the registration opportunity being pursued – priority, regular, or late registration (Example: Jane Doe’s Spring 2021 Priority Registration Requests).
The body of the email should include the following.
- Student’s full name
- Student’s CVCC ID number (new students will not have their ID numbers yet)
- Name of high school (home school students should state “home school”)
- Total number of credits requested for the semester (Example: 6 credits total are requested)
- Listing of requested courses in priority order.
- For priority registration courses with more than one delivery method, students should specify if they want the class online, seated, or hybrid. (Example: ENG-111 seated afternoon or ENG-111 online)
- For regular registration or late registration course requests, courses will be selected from the Curriculum Class Schedule for the upcoming semester/term. Include the student's first choice, second choice, and alternate course options. Include all course options the student is willing to consider.
- For example, a student wanting 6 SHC (semester hour credits) may request:
- First choice: SOC-210-805 (3 SHC)
- Second choice: SOC-210-100
- Alternate choice if SOC-210 choices are not available: PSY-150-820C (3 SHC)
- First choice: HIS-131-820C (3 SHC)
- Second choice: HIS-131-100
- No alternate is requested if HIS-131 choices are not available.
- For example, a student wanting 6 SHC (semester hour credits) may request:
How do students confirm their registration requests for any of the three registration opportunities?
Returning CCP students will not receive an email confirmation regarding their registration requests; instead, students should check their schedule in their CVCC student portal by the date posted on the Important Dates tab. Students will be contacted by CCP personnel if the selected courses are not allowed in the student’s CCP pathway or if there is another conflict.
New CCP students will receive an email from ccp@cvcc.edu regarding their requests and will also be provided information on how to complete the online New CCP Student Orientation. Registration confirmation will be sent to the same email address from which the original request was sent. New student orientation information will be sent to the email address provided on the student’s CCP application.
