      This course is designed to prepare graduates to
provide personal care and perform basic nursing
skills for the elderly and other adults. Emphasis
on aging process including mental, social and
physical needs of the elderly, patient's rights,
nutrition management, elimination procedures, safe
environment, restorative services, personal and
special care procedures and activities, human body
structure and function and related common
disease/disorders, communication and
documentation, death and dying, and roles of the
nursing assistant and health team members. A
skill/competency evaluation is required. The
course includes class, laboratory and clinical
learning experiences. Upon satisfactory completion
of the course and skill/competency evaluation, the
graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a
Nurse Aide I by the N.C. Division of Facility
Services.
Pre-requisite: Pathways to Heatlhcare,place out of DRE 098, or
placement into ENG 111. Required at Registration: Current
government issued photoID, HS Diploma/GED, currently enrolled in
GED with 11th grade reading level, or current HS senior. HS
seniors are exempt from Pre-requisties.No class:5/27, 7/1-7/3;

      This course provides theory and clinical

testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics,
legalities, medical terminology, safety and
universal precautions, health care delivery
systems, patient relations, anatomy and
physiology, and specimen collection. Upon
completion, students should be able to safely
perform procedures necessary for specimen
collections on patients in various health
care settings and may be eligible for national
certification as phlebotomy technicians.

can be purchased at the CVCC Bookstore. Class will include 98
seated hours, 77 online hours and 40 hours of clinical. Class
will meet at ourAlexander Complex Tuesdays and Thursdays from
5:30-8:30pm in ALCO 126 from 7/16-10/31/24. Clinicals will be
from 11/4-12/6/24 . The last day of class on 12/10/24 will be
in-person for 2 hours, 5:30-7:30pm.

      CVCC offers the seven-hour Notary Public class
that is required to obtain a North Carolina
Commission as a Notary Public. Each class is
taught by a certified instructor and provides a
thorough introduction to the statutes which
regulate the acts of North Carolina notaries. The
purpose of the education requirement is to enable
the applicant to become a responsible, qualified
candidate for Notary Public commission. You are
required to purchase the current edition of the
Notary Public Guidebook, which is included in the
cost of your class and will be given to you when
you register in person at CVCC. The cost of the
class $65. Student will need to bring their own
guidebook to class. It is
recommended that you register at least one week
prior to the class you want to attend. This will
allow time for you to read the guidebook which
MUST BE READ PRIOR TO CLASS. There are no waivers
