Class Information:This course covers the concepts of esthetics.
Topics include orientation, anatomy, physiology,
hygiene, sterilization, first aid, chemistry,
basic dermatology, and professional ethics. In
addition this course covers the techniques of
esthetics in a comprehensive experience in a
simulated salon setting. Topics include client
consultation, facials, body treatments, hair
removal, make-up applications, and color analysis.
Upon completion, students should be able to safely
and competently demonstrate esthetic services on
clients in a salon setting. In addition, to,
students should be able to demonstrate an
understanding of the concepts of esthetics and
meet course requirements.
Students are not eligible for self online registration. Students
must be in uniform, have kit/textbooks, and bring laptop or
device to acess onine contect to each class. Esthetis students
are required a minimum of 600 hours to apply for licensure exam.

with the required knowledge, tools, and resources
to become recognized as a certified Community
Health Worker (CHW) in North Carolina working in a
variety of healthcare and community settings
(Health Departments, Hospitals, Federally
Qualified Health Centers, Clinics, Faith-based
Organizations, etc.). Instruction is designed to
cover the nine core competencies essential to
working as a certified CHW which include
communication, capacity building, service
coordination, interpersonal, advocacy, outreach,
personal/professional skills. The knowledge base
competencies will cover health and social issues
that disproportionately impact clients including
but not limited to chronic diseases such as
diabetes, asthma and cancer. Some of the social
issues covered will include safety, emergency
preparedness, social isolation and adverse
childhood experiences (ACES). Students will also
learn about the changing health care landscape in
North Carolina and how to work with their clients
in connecting them to resources through NCCARES
360 and others. Upon completion of this training
students will be eligible for listing as a NC
Certified Community Health Worker. Course
facilitators must complete a train-the-trainer
course prior to providing certification
instruction.
Must be 18 years old. Couse is designed to provide individuals
with the required knowledge, tools, and resources to become
recognized as a certified Community Health Worker (CHW).

the Nurse Aide I core content to prepare
individuals who have been or are currently listed
on a Nurse Aide I Registry, have successfully
completed a state-approved training program, hold
a state recognized health care credential from
any state as or military personnel who have had
medical/corpsman training to sit for the Nurse
Aide I State Exam. The course is a minimum of
forty (40) hours and must include the following
Nurse Aide I curriculum content: Basic Nursing
Skills, Personal Care Skills, Recognition of
Mental Health and Social Service Needs, Care of

Class Information:The Medical Billing and Coding program prepares
students for entry-level employment in medical
billing and coding, patient encounters, scheduling
appointments, handling patient files and other
medical office business procedures in physicians'
offices, hospitals, insurance companies and a
variety of settings. Program courses provide
training in medical terminology, medical billing
and coding concepts, and healthcare computer
information systems. Students are introduced to
coding healthcare services, electronic health
records systems and processes for preparing and
submitting of healthcare claims. Students are
equipped to code diseases, surgeries and medical
procedures for billing and collection utilizing
ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems, to organize,
analyze, and technically examine health insurance
claims for reimbursement and rejected claims for
resubmission. Students will explore HIPAA rules
and regulations related to the privacy and
security of patient information. Upon completion,
the student will have the knowledge to sit for
industry-recognized certifications.
Class will be online with first and last meetings in-person or
virtual. On Tues. 1/21/25 we will have a meeting in-person or
virtually in CAD 148 from 5:30-7:30pm for course instructions.
Optional weekly virtual sessions will be offered on Mondays at
7:00pm. On 11/24/25 we will have an optional seated class from
5:30-8:30pm to take CBCS certification exam (Optional, NHA Exam.
