Directories

The Directories dialog contains the paths defined for CommonSpot installation, your Web server, the parent directory for new sites, and CommonSpot configuration data on this server.

Note: CommonSpot does not create the directories specified here. Before you make changes to CommonSpot path definitions, make sure that corresponding directories already exist within the server file system.

The Directories dialog displays the following fields, which typically default to the locations set during CommonSpot installation:

CommonSpot Directory: Required. Displays the CommonSpot application directory. For IIS (Internet Information Server) installations, typically {drive}:/inetpub/wwwroot/commonspot.
CommonSpot Web Server Document Directory: Required. Displays or changes the root Web directory. Under IIS this is typically {drive}:/inetpub/wwwroot.
Parent Directory of New Sites: Required. Displays or changes the directory for creating new top-level CommonSpot sites (and all related CommonSpot subsites) Typically, this field matches the preceding field - new sites reside in the Web root directory. The installation in the example above maintains the separate subdirectory newsites for new CommonSpot sites.
Local Data Directory: Required. Displays the location for storing cache files and other CommonSpot site, customer, and configuration data. This directory is specified during installation and is read-only to protect critical CommonSpot functions, such as performance, search collection management, etc. If you need to change this directory or the CommonSpot directory, contact your account or services representative or PaperThin Support.

Note: You can also use UNC Paths (\\servername\share) to specify directories.
