Textbook(s) Required Book Isbn Book Edition Class Information: This course provides theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, health care delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collection. Upon completion, students should be able to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patients in various health care settings and may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians. Course may include a clinical component To enroll, be at least 18 years old. A textbook is required and can be purchased at the CVCC Bookstore. Class will include 104 seated hours, 71 online hours and 40 hours of clinical. Class will meet at our Alexander Complex Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30pm in ATEC 226 from 1/13-5/7/26. Clinicals will be from 5/11-6/5/26. The last day of class on 6/9/26 will be in-person for 2 hours, 5:30-7:30pm.
