course, students will become familiar with
turning methods, and materials used in creating
basic forms with the potters' wheel. Topics
include clay preparation, turning techniques, and
basic glaze application. Upon completion,
students should be able to center, turn basic
forms such as bowls and mugs, apply basic glazes,
and be familiar with loading and firing an
electric kiln.

Supply fee covers kiln firings, glaze materials and 1 bag of clay. In addition, students must purchase a tool kit available at CVCC Bookstore or local craft store. Students whould bring a towel, apron, large sponge and a 5-gallon bucket with lid to class. Dress in comfortable clothes you do not mind getting dirty. No class on 11/26 due to Thanksgiving. Class Information: The Medical Billing and Coding program prepares
students for entry-level employment in medical
billing and coding, patient encounters, scheduling
appointments, handling patient files and other
medical office business procedures in physicians'
offices, hospitals, insurance companies and a
variety of settings. Program courses provide
training in medical terminology, medical billing
and coding concepts, and healthcare computer
information systems. Students are introduced to
coding healthcare services, electronic health
records systems and processes for preparing and
submitting of healthcare claims. Students are
equipped to code diseases, surgeries and medical
procedures for billing and collection utilizing
ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems, to organize,
analyze, and technically examine health insurance
claims for reimbursement and rejected claims for
resubmission. Students will explore HIPAA rules
and regulations related to the privacy and
security of patient information. Upon completion,
the student will have the knowledge to sit for
industry-recognized certifications.

Class will be online with first meeting in-person. On Mon, 4/27/26, come to an on-campus class in CAD 167 from 5:30-7:30pm for course instructions and to borrow coding manuals. Optional weekly virtual sessions will occur during the course, typically Mondays from 7:00-8:00pm. To ensure success, students should have a solid foundation in medical terminology prior to taking this cass (OST-8602, MED 121/122 or Anatomy and Physiology). legalities, medical terminology, safety and
