Add/Edit Uploaded Content Format

Access this dialog from Uploaded Content Formats to make a new file type available for uploading. This dialog appears in Edit mode, as shown below, for viewing or changing properties for allowed content types.

Complete the following fields:

Name - Required. Enter a descriptive name for the file format. This name does not need to be unique. For example, you can have multiple Microsoft Word formats (.doc, .dot, etc.)
Extension - Required. Enter a valid file format extension for the file type specified. Extensions must be unique; CommonSpot does not allow duplicate records. You can associate a single file type and extension with multiple applications; once you create an mp4 record for one application, there is no need to add it for another application.
Image - Optional. An icon image associated with this upload format.
MIME Type - Specifies the Internet media type associated with this file format. Enter the two-part identifier so that CommonSpot properly sets the file MIME Type on access.
Category - Pick from the dropdown to categorize this file as type Multimedia, Uploaded Document, or Image. CommonSpot uses these categories when setting default file types for local multimedia channels. During upgrade, uploaded documents categorized as multimedia are converted for management using CommonSpot's multimedia features. Other types are managed as uploaded content.

Note: It is a best practice for contributors to use the image upload facility to manage images in CommonSpot. See The Image Editor and Image Gallery in the Contributor's Reference.
Upload Limit - Displays the following options:

No Limit - Default. Allows uploads of any size for this file type.
Set Limit - Displays the following fields for defining upload file size limits.

File Size Limit - Required if Set Limit is defined above. Specify a file size limit in bytes for the selected file format, as shown above, using no commas or other delimiters.
Warning Message - Optional. The message displayed to contributors when the document upload size exceeds the value in the File Size Limit field.

Indexable - Optional. Unchecked (default) this file type is excluded from full-text indexes. Checked, full-text indexes include this file type.

Note that indexing a document requires that you both check this option and select the include in indexes option at the page level. If a document type is not indexable, CommonSpot ignores the include in indexes option. Click Save to update Uploaded Document Formats or Cancel to exit.
