Edit Device Mapping

Use the Edit Device Mapping dialog to view or modify the current drive or network share names for a registered device. Access this dialog by clicking this icon in the Actions column for a selected device in the Shared Database Configuration dialog.

Note: CommonSpot displays the following dialog for Non-Shared devices. Shared devices do not have the External Path field.

Internal Path - Enter a value based on whether this is a shared or non-shared device:
(Non Shared devices) The drive letter or device name for the device. This name must be valid for all servers in the cluster, and must correspond exactly to the information you enter in the External Path field. A typical value for this field is c:\ or /space/.
(Shared devices) The UNC name (\\imageServer\imageShare) or the mounted device name (/imageDevice). This name must be valid for all servers in the cluster and all servers in the cluster must have read/write permissions for all directories used by CommonSpot.
External Path - (Non-Shared only) Typically, the UNC name that corresponds to the entered Internal Path. This path must be specified for each server in the cluster. Using a mapped drive letter such as g:/ is not recommended. (Because this device is shared by all servers in the cluster, no external name is required for a shared configuration.)
Test Directory - (Non Shared and Shared) Directory on the device that CommonSpot uses for testing connections. This field must be used for devices where the ColdFusion process does not have write permission to the root directory. Using a test directory is also recommended to avoid known problems with the ColdFusion DirectoryExists() function, which can be unreliable for root directories.
Test URL - (Non Shared and Shared) If Web server access is provided for the device, use the Test URL field to name the URL that corresponds to the Test Directory field. For testing, CommonSpot will automatically prefix this value with "http://" and either the IP address or alias for the tested server.

Note: You should share only site-specific folders between the Authoring server and its Read-Only Production servers. Do not share the commonspot or commonspot-data directories. Regardless of how you choose to build your directory structure or share folders, the entire directory structure of each Read-Only Production server must be identical to the directory structure of its Authoring server (meaning that the drive letter and directory structure must be the same).
