Substance Abuse Workshop Set for March 24
Due to the alarming increase in substance abuse in the area, Catawba Valley Community College, in Hickory, will host “Understanding Substance Abuse and Addiction: A Conference to Promote Awareness and Understanding” Sat., March 24, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the college’s Tarlton Complex.
Furniture Academy Grads Recognized
Clint Dyer of Newton, and Bonita Hawkins of Hickory, recently completed Upholstery Pattern Making and Auto CAD components of the Catawba Valley Furniture Academy. Both are employed in the furniture industry.
Bunker Hill Students Taking Turfgrass Classes
Catawba Valley Community College has developed a Turfgrass Management pathway for students at Bunker Hill High School. Offered through the Career & College Promise program, this new collaborative allows high school students to earn tuition-free college credits toward an associate degree in Turfgrass Management.
