Add Mapping - HTTP Access

CommonSpot requires an HTTP access definition for testing connections among the servers in a shared database configuration. Access this dialog as part of the device mapping process from Add Mapping Share State.

Use the Add Mapping - HTTP Access dialog to specify whether mapping through HTTP is available to CommonSpot and to supply both the URL and file system location for HTTP-accessible drives for specific content served at your site. For example, use this to identify the location of video or image archives that do not reside within the Web site.

You can specify an Apache alias or Windows IIS virtual directory for the file system.

Options displayed depend on selections made in the previous dialog:

HTTP Access via Local Web Server - This option designates the device as available to the local or default Web server used for the CommonSpot installation and associated Web sites. Accessible content on this device can be retrieved using a relative URL from the CommonSpot installation or any site managed by CommonSpot on this server.
No Access - This option designates the device as not available to any Web server. Files related to the CommonSpot installation and the Web sites managed by CommonSpot are stored on this device, but no HTTP access is needed or provided. In a configuration where the CommonSpot installation is on a shared device, it is recommended that this option be used for the device holding the 'local data' directory.
HTTP Access via Remote Web Server - This option appears if you select Shared in the Add Mapping Share State dialog. The option designates the device as foreign to the local Web server, and that URLs for the content on this device must be fully qualified (including the "http://serverName" prefix). This setting is typically used for installations where images (or other content) are provided by a separate Web server.

After you select the connection type, click Next to enter mapping data in the New Device Mapping dialog.
