Automotive Systems Technology

When you study Automotive Systems Technology at CVCC, you’ll learn everything from brake systems to engine performance, electrical systems to climate control. The classroom-lab experience integrates technical and academic course work to ensure better understanding of the automotive industry and related transportation theory. With hands-on experience and real-world application, you’ll be ready to take licensure exams and start your career as an entry-level technician.
TOYOTA TECS ELITE
CVCC is a proud partner of Toyota Technician Education College Support (TECS) Elite, which offers training resources for educational institutions to help students earn a Toyota Maintenance Certification and prepare for a career in Automotive Systems. Toyota TECS Elite requires 80 hours of hands-on learning in areas of Steering Suspension, Brakes, Tire Repair, and General Maintenance.
New Ford Tech/ACE
CVCC is one of many educational institutions partnering with Ford Motor Company to provide the New Ford Tech/ACE (Automotive Career Exploration) program.
All New Ford Tech/ACE courses are online or hands-on, so students can study specific interests like New Model Training, the History of Ford Motor Company, Suspension and Steering, and more.

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) allows a student who earns the Associate degree with no grade lower than a “C” to be guaranteed admission to at least one of the UNC system schools as a Junior ;and make a smooth transition for maximum credit transfer.
Some Associate in Applied Science degrees may transfer in full or in part to a four-year school. CVCC has agreements with certain schools to accept the AAS degree in a 2 + 2 arrangement (subject to change).

- As always, it is imperative that a student at CVCC should be in full conversation with the senior school before selecting and completing a program of study at CVCC.
CVCC’s Automotive Systems Technology program is accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation, earned at the higher level of Master Automobile Service Technology.
The Automotive Systems Technology curriculum prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. Instruction includes brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance and repair, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions and drive trains, and heating and air condition systems.
