Sculpt, Style, and Shine with CVCC’s Cosmetology Program
Are you passionate about beauty and helping others look and feel their best? Our Cosmetology program will provide the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience you need to succeed in the beauty industry.
When you study Cosmetology at CVCC you will complete competency-based training that blends scientific and artistic principles with practical skills in all aspects of cosmetology. In this program, you’ll learn in a simulated salon environment that mirrors real-world settings, helping you develop the manipulative skills needed to excel in the field.
Courses cover a range of topics including professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin and nail care, multicultural practices, business principles, and product knowledge. Additionally, you’ll receive instruction in essential general education subjects, such as English and psychology, that enhance your ability to communicate and understand clients’ needs.
Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts Examination. After successfully passing the state board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in hair salons, spas, medical spas, nail salons, and related businesses.

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) allows a student who earns the Associate degree with no grade lower than a “C” to be guaranteed admission to at least one of the UNC system schools as a Junior ;and make a smooth transition for maximum credit transfer.
Some Associate in Applied Science degrees may transfer in full or in part to a four-year school. CVCC has agreements with certain schools to accept the AAS degree in a 2 + 2 arrangement (subject to change).

- As always, it is imperative that a student at CVCC should be in full conversation with the senior school before selecting and completing a program of study at CVCC.
