Associate in Arts

Tune Your Future with the Associate in Arts

Are you interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fields like music, history, psychology, or education? CVCC’s Associate in Arts program offers a solid foundation for students who plan to transfer to a North Carolina four-year public university and major in liberal arts disciplines. Prepare for success with a comprehensive, flexible curriculum designed to support your academic goals.

When you study for your Associate in Arts degree at CVCC, you’ll complete a well-rounded program of college transfer courses that build essential skills in reading, writing, communication, mathematics, and basic computer usage. The program is designed to prepare you for a seamless transfer to universities within North Carolina, allowing you to enter with junior status.

The curriculum aligns with the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA), making it easier for graduates to transfer to institutions like The University of North Carolina and other signatory schools. With the support of CVCC’s guidance, you will meet the requirements for a smooth transition to your chosen four-year institution.

Graduates of the program will be well-equipped to pursue advanced degrees in liberal arts fields, including music, history, education, pre-law, English, nursing (BSN), psychology, sociology, and more.

Community college graduates must obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to transfer with a junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions.

CVCC gave me the perfect head start on my education degree. The smaller class sizes, supportive instructors, and strong transfer pathway helped me build confidence and stay focused. By the time I transferred, I felt completely prepared—and I saved time and money along the way.
