Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in students’ lives? If you aspire to become a licensed teacher in elementary, middle, high school, or special education, CVCC’s Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation program is the perfect foundation for your career.

When you study Teacher Preparation at CVCC, you’ll engage in a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide a solid foundation in general education. You’ll explore subjects like reading, writing, oral communication, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. This well-rounded education ensures you’re equipped with the essential skills to thrive in any teaching environment.

The program includes a planned program of study, consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of college transfer courses. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enables North Carolina community college graduates of two-year associate in arts programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to transfer with junior status.

Community college graduates must obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale in order to transfer with a junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions.
