Being part of the Surgical Technology program at CVCC has fueled my passion for helping others. Assisting in the operating room and knowing I’m part of a team that improves lives every day is an experience I’ll always be grateful for.
Surgical Technology
Ready to assist in life-saving surgeries and work alongside skilled surgeons? CVCC’s Surgical Technology program equips you with the knowledge and hands-on experience to succeed in one of healthcare’s most rewarding careers. Learn to prepare, assist, and maintain patient safety during surgical procedures while developing the skills needed to thrive in fast-paced operating room environments.
When you study Surgical Technology at CVCC, you’ll learn to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations in the operating room, preparing supplies, equipment, and instruments. You’ll master aseptic technique, assist with patient preparation, and actively participate in surgeries, all while ensuring a safe and sterile environment. Graduates of this program are well-prepared for certification and to become valuable members of any surgical team.
The program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), includes classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical experience at hospitals. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to sit for the national certification exam administered by the National Board on Certification in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), an essential step for entering the field.
