HICKORY, N.C.– In Spring 2024, the Rotary Club of Hickory Sunrise held their inaugural “Run, Walk, and Roll Adaptive 5k and Miler” to increase disability awareness within the Catawba Valley community. Rotarians welcomed all racers to participate in the events, including those who may have a permanent visual, physical or intellectual impairment that affects their ability to participate in long distance running.
A portion of the proceeds benefited adaptive community and disability services in the Catawba County region, along with scholarship support at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC). A proud partner of the CVCC Foundation, Hickory Sunrise – “the small club that gets big things done” – has been providing scholarship assistance to CVCC students since 2010 and is the most diverse Rotary Club in western North Carolina.
Pictured in the photo are members of the Hickory Sunrise Club: (L to R) Dr. Nancy Toy, Dr. Tasheenia Bennett (Club President), Steve Hunt, and Susan Propst, (Scholarship Coordinator for the CVCC Foundation).
