CVCC Theatre Dept. Opens 3 New Continuing Education Courses
Classes in Acting, Play Production, or Stagecraft are now available this Fall.

HICKORY, N.C.—Always wanted to perform in a play, take an acting class, or learn how to build scenery? Have time during the day to take a class? CVCC now offers continuing education courses in Acting, Play Production, or Stagecraft! Each 16-week-long course costs $180. All scripts, costumes, and materials are supplied per course.
“Acting” runs 1:00-4:00pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays from August 15th-December 17th, 2024*. This course provides an applied study of the actor’s craft. Topics include role analysis, training the voice, and body, concentration, discipline, and self-evaluation.
“Play Production” runs 11:00am-2:30pm on Mondays & Wednesdays from August 19th-December 18th, 2024**. This course provides an applied laboratory study of the processes involved in the production of a play. Topics include fundamental practices, principles, and techniques associated with producing plays of various periods and styles.
“Stagecraft” runs 9:00am-12:00pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays from August 15th-December 17th, 2024*. This course introduces the theory and basic construction of stage scenery and properties. Topics include stage carpentry, scene painting, stage electrics, properties, and backstage organization.

**Performances are scheduled for 12/06/2024 from 2pm-9pm, 12/07/2024 from 2pm-9pm, 12/08/2024 from 2pm-5pm, 12/13/2024 from 2pm-9pm, and 12/14/2024 from 2pm-9pm. No class on 9/2 Labor Day; 10/14 & 10/16, Fall Break; 11/11 Veteran's Day; 11/27 Thanksgiving. Flip Day, class will meet on Tuesday, 11/26.
