Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation
Are you passionate about teaching and excited to inspire the next generation of STEM learners? If you’re interested in pursuing teacher licensure in elementary, middle, or high school for STEM fields, CVCC’s Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation program will set you on the path to success.
The Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation is a specialized transfer degree for students pursuing teacher licensure in STEM-related fields, such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In this program, you’ll gain a strong foundation in general education coursework, including reading, writing, oral communication, mathematics, natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, and the humanities, all essential for teaching in today’s classrooms.
The program includes a planned program of study, consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of college transfer courses. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enables North Carolina community college graduates of two-year associate in arts programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to transfer with junior status.
Community college graduates must obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale in order to transfer with a junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions.
