Information Technology Information Systems
Do you have a passion for technology and problem-solving? Are you the person who enjoys building systems, optimizing processes, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes? If you have a love for technology and a curiosity about how information systems drive businesses and organizations, then CVCC’s Information Systems program is where you will soar.
When you study IT: Information Systems at CVCC, you will gain the expertise needed to create, store, communicate, exchange and use information to solve technical issues related to information support and services, interactive media, network systems, programming and software development, information security and other emerging technologies based on the selected area of study. Whether you’re developing software, managing network infrastructures, or ensuring data security, you’ll be equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving tech industry.
The Information Technology: Information Systems program houses the Microsoft Datacenter Academy. The Microsoft Datacenter Academy is a workforce development program in which Microsoft collaborates with CVCC to train students for skills and certifications to enable students to gain employment in the growing cloud computing and IT sectors. Through this program, students receive advanced, practical IT training in state-of-the-art classrooms, complemented by a specialized Datacenter Academy lab featuring rack cabinets housing a variety of servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
The IT training is designed to prepare students for national industry certifications and to be highly skilled for employment in the growing cloud computing and IT sectors. Embedded industry certifications include CompTIA’s: A+, Server+, Net+, and Security+.

5 Semesters to your AAS
You’ll be ready for entry-level CyberSecurity positions with businesses, educational systems, and governmental agencies that rely on computer systems to design and manage information in just 5 semesters. You may even be qualified to take exams for network and security industry certifications.
By the end of those 5 semester, you’ll be able to:
- Develop and implement a local area network security policy utilizing routers and switches.
- Develop and implement a wireless local area network security policy utilizing wireless devices.
- Develop and implement a workstation/ server security policy and more!
