Associate in Fine Arts in Music

Tune Your Future with the Associate in Fine Arts in Music

Are you passionate about music and looking to pursue a career in the arts? CVCC’s Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Music program is the perfect place to nurture your talent and prepare for professional music careers or further education in music. Whether you are aiming for a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, CVCC provides the foundation you need to succeed in the competitive world of music.

The AFA-Music program at CVCC offers an exceptional curriculum designed for aspiring musicians. Students receive private, one-on-one, instruction in voice, keyboard, strings, woodwinds, and brass, along with opportunities for participation in various vocal and instrumental ensembles. A professional accompanist is provided for all students of private voice at no additional charge to the student. The program also includes music theory, ear training, class piano, conducting, and professional development courses focused on performance, composition, and expression.

With dedicated instructors who offer personalized attention, CVCC’s small class sizes ensure that each student receives a well-rounded, high-quality education. Students have the opportunity to compete in state and regional competitions, helping them gain exposure and advance their careers in the music field.

Graduates of the program often pursue careers as performers, conductors, music therapists, music educators, or church music leaders. The skills gained at CVCC—such as creative thinking, communication, cultural awareness, and teamwork—have lasting benefits far beyond music.
